Usually, a female ovulates about 14 days after the start of her cycle. This is normally for a regular cycle of around 28 days. Since you have a 30 day cycle, I would say you ovulate around 15 days after the start of your period. However, every female is different. The only way to know for sure is to use an ovulation detector kit. I believe the most fertile days are a day or two before your possible ovulation day thru a day or two after your ovulation date.

Giving you a timeframe is just an estimation. The dates you'll hear are guesstimations, assuming the woman ovulates in the middle of her cycle. That is not always the case. Its best to chart for a couple months, or use ovulation prediction kits to determine when she actually ovulates. She could ovulate on day 10 instead of day 15 which could really throw a wrench in someone's plans to either get pregnant or NOT get pregnant. Visit www.mymonthlycycle.com if you plan to chart. It will also give you some signs and symptoms to look for to indicate ovulation. Best of luck.

Here is how i found out when i was fertile cause i have a 30 day cycle too.

Go to http://www.mymonthlycycles.com and put in your period info and it will calculate when you will be fertile and ovulating plus it keeps tracks of your periods. It will even email you ahead of time to alert you of your upcoming fertile/ovulation and period dates. It is a free and very helpful website.

They're all fertile, hon. The sperm can live, sometimes 10 days in the vagina. Thus, even though your egg is only viable for 5 days, or so, you are foolish to use the rhythm method. As my ob-gyn said, "I have a patient who has been using this method 12 years, and I have delivered her 8 times.." ('oh, good', was my thought.)
