Yeah/No. i think you should have to be tested before you vote, because most people who vote don't know any issues that are "hot", becasue they just vote with a party. Thomas Jefferson was right about the parties pulling the country apart.

Too many people vote for a party, rather than a candidate. Just because a party is usually good, does not mean that the represenative is good.

I talk too much.. (no one agree w/ that)

I think the voting age could be lowered to 16 or 17 but I'd require a new voter to have a certificate that they passed a government class, just like in most states you have to pass a drivers' ed class. It would make govt or civics class much more interesting because at the end of the class you'd qualify for an adult privilege, and it could be fun debating the issues and evaluating candidates when you know you can actually exercise a choice. If kids that age have the judgment to drive, open a bank account, work at a job, move away from home and even get married in some states, they can vote. After reading the frivolous and illogical and uninformed posts written by people here who are well over 18, I know that any 16 or 17 year old who's interested in politics can make at least as good a choice.

Absofreakinlutely. I was a retard at 18 even. The reason that the armed forced focus on that group is partially because they follow what others say and don't have the presence of mind to think things through. Same goes for politics in my mind. When I was 18, I would have voted for any schmuck that said "Hey, vote for me!!"

My suggestion would be to pay attention to the politics and become involved as much as possible when you turn 18.

Maybe not if you are well informed, but a lot of people are too immature to make an informed choice before they are 18. Then again, there are a lot of people who are 35 that make poor choices.

yes. and you should have to take a test before voting to see if you clearly understand the issues and what the candidates stand for.
