Take some chickens, at least one duck, and a goat.

KNOW how much you're willing to pay before you even act intrested. Don't seem over intrested or they think its an easy sell.

When you start bartering start low and work your way up to a middle price that around where you're willing to pay. If it goes over what you're willing to pay just walk away! (that normally makes people change their mind really quick!)

Another way it to pull out a 5 dollar bill, point to the purse you want and ask if you can have it for 5 dollars (showing the money). Once the money is out they know you're a serious buyer and are more willing to give it for the price you want, as long as it isnt stupidly low.

My best approach is to seem interested at first, then when you hear their crazy price say no, no, I can't pay that and slowly walk away. At the market in Chiang Mai and Bangkok this worked well; they kept shouting lower and lower prices until I had to turn around and buy it. If they didn't shout after me I'd look around and come back later, then do the usual bartering of just offering a crazy low price to their crazy high one. Then when they're starting to say no, ask "how much if I buy two"?

When they give you a price, tell them a ridiculously low price. They'll go down on their price, go up on yours a little... repeat the process until they give you a price you're willing to pay.

Depends on what you have to trade. If you want to haggle, hondle, bargain with the seller you can always ask politely if that is their best price.
