Depends on what you mean by fastest! In a three mile long race, the saluki (a dog!) will beat any animal, even the speedy cheetah.

Is this a trick question?

The fastest animal traveling on land is the Human, who uses machines to gain speed, even over long distances.

The fastest animal traveling under its own muscle power for short distances is the cheetah (Aconyx jubatus).

For long distances, the Siberian Husky probably hold the speed record.

Nothing to do with chemistry, but the answer is Cheetah.

it can reach speeds of more than 105 km/h (65 mph) in short bursts up to 460 metres (500 yards), as well as being able to accelerate from 0 to 110 km/h (≈70 mph) in three seconds, faster than most supercars.
