What kind of twists do you guys like in fantasy novels? What kind of things do you want to read about and would like to see but have never seen in a novel? I just need a lot of help, this is my first book and im only 16 but i love it, fantasy novels are so hard to write about since you need to stretch a lot of things and can't even bounce off of someone elses ideas! Any suggestions? Also, i don't understand how the books i read can be so long if i am only 20 pages in and im well into the main conflict! I am trying to add a lot of details to mine but doing that also makes it seem kind of amature. If you all could help me that would be great =)

Read as much as you can, especially other fantasy novels. Anything you can get your hands on. When you are reading, really pay attention to how the story works. Where do they begin? How do they show you about the characters? How is the pacing?

I also love to read books about writing. I have a couple books that I recommend. They are my inspirations, and whenever I feel blocked I turn to them and they motivate me to continue:

1) "Bird By Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life" by Anne Lamott. This one really focuses on taking things one step at a time and not getting ahead of yourself. There is an entire section on writing terrible first drafts that might be of help to you.

2) "Writing Down the Bones" by Natalie Goldberg. This is on the practice of writing. Like all other skills, the more you do it, the better you get. Ms. Goldberg has an amazing style and some great exercises to get your hand moving.

3) "How to Write Science Fiction & Fantasy" by Orson Scott Card. This one focuses more on Science Fiction, but should be helpful to you too. It was a quick read with a lot of in-depth information.

Another excellent resource are the articles on Holly Lisle's website. They include topics on just about everything, including world-building and pacing scenes:

I can't give you any advice for your plot, because it has to come from you. I would recommend that you spend some time getting to know your characters a little better-- free write about each of them for a few pages. Find out their likes, dislikes, habits, etc. If you really know who the people in your story are, then they will tell you what they will do! Characters can get very stubborn at just the wrong moments =)

Don't worry if it seems amatuer right now. Just get the story down on paper. NO ONE writes a perfect first draft-- that's what editing is for! But you won't have anything to edit if you can't get the majority of the plot committed to paper.

Keep going! Happy writing!

one million.) By November will the TC nonetheless be at the lot as a 2008 mannequin, or will it now be 2009 items? I ought to recognise this for coverage functions. It will have to be the 09 items via that point. Car years are funky. The automobile yr is customarily the following specific yr. Usually via the top of august they're rolling within the subsequent years automobiles. They have already got a few 09's. I have one. two.) If a automobile lot does not have the colour you desire on it (Black), can I order it via the automobile lot? If so, how so much further does this rate, and approximately how lengthy does it take for the scion to return in? It doesnt rate further, besides to your time. At least it shouldnt rate any further, in view that you're nonetheless purchasing the equal automobile, they simply ought to get the correct one to you. three.) I'm taking into account a lip spoiler, however I can not come to a decision whether or not I desire no spoiler, lip, or the greater spoiler. umm, in the event you desire a fab watching one, get the Pedestal (greater) spoiler, in the event you desire a meh spoiler get the lip one... except you dont desire to spend further cash then dont get one in any respect. four.) Are you men' TC repayments ordinarily below $four hundred/month? It doesnt subject what any individual elses repayments are, all of it has to do with matters like your credit score ranking, your down fee, the financing fee that they provide you. Unless you've got the targeted equal expertise as anyone, have the equal credit score, down fee, and are geting the whole lot the equal, your fee shall be one-of-a-kind. too many variables. Also notice that the whole lot in a scion is an "further" flooring mats, spoilers, basiclly the whole lot besides the radio. five.) I would attempt to promote the Celica earlier than purchasing the TC in order that it doesnt upload directly to my fee. But if I do not promote it, and do a alternate-in.................... it shouldnt upload on on your fee except its no longer payed off. If its isnt payed off, you will have to definently promote it, in view that you'll get far more for it promoting it your self then from a alternate in, in view that they'll provide you the least quantity feasible. and as to your audio equpiment... get it taken out earlier than you do something with the automobile, then get it positioned within the new one whilst you get it. And there are solutions for you!

You have to learn how to pace yourself. Go to a bookstore and buy a couple books in the series Elements of Fiction Writing. They have books on plot, conflict/suspense, character and viewpoint, dialogue, description. These books really helped me.

And there's rarely a story that hasn't been done before. Most stories follow the same general themes but just with different tweaks of the plot.

Instead of trying to find something completely new (I agree with your other answer, btw) you could try taking something familiar and adding a unique twist. I like it when there's some humor in the story.
Basically, you need to relax and let it come. If it's short, then make it a short story and try for a novel next time! Good luck!

Well, me and two others are only 11 and 12 and we are writing a novel. It is coming along well. What I see in a fantasy novel is something that pulls you in, unlike a normal fiction story. It is so out of norm that you feel a strange grasp of mythical power pulling you in.
