I despise that magazine, so I don't read it, but I did read it when I was younger. I don't think that those tips "encourage females to be comfortable with their sexuality and enjoy sex on their own terms." I think Cosmo, because of their extreme emphasis on sex and relationships, teaches that women neeeeeeeeeed a man to be complete and that men's sexuality should be the most important. That's hardly having sex on women's terms. It also reinforces the male ideal of sex, which begins with penetration and ends with his orgasm. If a woman followed Cosmo's sex tips, she would likely be very unsatisfied.
Not to mention, the sex tips are ridiculously cheesy.

I never really liked that magazine and my friends and I once looked at the sex tips while in line at the store and they were not particularly creative. The problem with the magazine is that they promise things will "please your man" or "drive him wild". However, once you have been in a relationship for a while and tried things it is obvious what pleases your man and you don't really need tips from Cosmo -- you just need good communication. What brings great pleasure to one man may be a turn off for another. It doesn't seem worth the cover price of a magazine to find out what pleases some man I will never want to please -- when you can spend time having a lot more fun finding out what pleases your man.

I don't like girls' magazines because they are very cheesy and uninteresting. They usually only talk about diets, clothes, and beauty products. They also talk about sex, but I don't think that's really a problem, except if the girls who read it are 15 and really believe what they are reading. I like to get sex tips, but girls's magazines always give the same ones.
And I disagree with what the first person said: men are supposed to care about a woman's pleasure, but women shouldn't?! There are a lot of men who like to be kissed and caressed all over the body, and not just on the genitals (of course, you always end upthere!!!), so I don't see what's wrong with those tips as it is something that is often forgotten. Why should women be selfish in their sexuality when men are supposed to care?

But it's not about "enjoying sex on their own terms" it's about pleasing someone else. And the best way to please YOURSELF and the man you're with is to GET TO KNOW THEM. Learn what works. It's different for everyone. I don't like Cosmo because it takes the "women can enjoy sex as much as a man" idea of the feminist movement and turns it into "perform these acrobatics and you might get a guy to stick around!" It's demeaning...to women AND to sex itself. Cosmo is a stupid magazine. I hate it. Always have.

I dont like those magazines in general because I feel like they promote an airhead lifestyle in which people dont care whats going on outside their own little selfish bubble. Also the information seems too giggly and just plain lame. If I want sex tips I can go to a book store and find everything I need, or better yet the internet. It seems these days, all cosmo is focused on is another lame way for a woman to please her man. (I dont even think half that crap works on men anyway, but they keep on printing it).

I agree with Carrie. Cosmo isn't a good magazine for today's women. They only have one page (ONE PAGE!) on work, and the features there are all about interpersonal relations in the workplace, but hardly anything about actual business tips. The rest of the magazine is devoted to teaching women how to impress their men. A really good magazine for us now is Bee. It's ALL about us.

Must be the same women that Trash Playboy for the same kinds of tips.
Both magazines are generally well researched and use credible medical confirmations if they can. Both are explict. Both are tantalizing.
Maybe that's the problem. Lack of Metamucil in some readers...

The tips are strictly for provocation and not for forming an organic connection to your loved one. They may work for someone who writes them, but otherwise, no.
