My check engine light came on yesterday after I parked my car for an hour or so. I took it to AutoZone and got the diagnostic code P0461: The voltage signal from the fuel level sensor is out of range for the current engine operating condition. The guy there said he'd never seen that code before, and it looks like a wiring thing, and I might be able to reset it by disconnecting the battery. On the way home, I filled the tank, and the dashboard gauge reads full. Please tell me if there's something I can do at home to remedy the problem. Thanks!

You can take it back to AutoZone and for free they can erase the check engine light for you. If it comes back on you probably have a wiring issue. Any mechanic should be able to disconnect the fuel level sensor.
If you don't erase the check engine light and you do have a problem with any other engine sensor your light will not tell anything is wrong because it is already on.
Good luck!

There are many fuel and oxygen sensors on most vehicles. Take it to a mechanic, tell them what code came up, and see what they say. Shop around before you get it fixed!

You might be able to ignore it - a lot of those 'idiot lights' just come on to make you bring the car in for repair, and they will charge you 250 bucks to turn the light off.
