Well I think by at least 6 months. But why would you want your baby to hold their own bottle? Feeding time is a time for you two to bond. Don't just put them down with a bottle and walk away even though you might have tons of things to do. Feeding time is a great time for you to sit down and relax with your baby.

My son will be 6 months is a week and has no desire to hold his bottle. I think he likes the cuddle time. As I feed him he just plays with my fingers or holds them instead. Im not bothered by the fact he doesnt hold his bottle yet. I enjoy feeding time with him.

My Daughter is ten months and still doesn't hold her own bottle. But I also give her the soothie bottles which are thicker than normal bottles and may be harder for her little hands to grasp. I also think she just enjoys having somone else hold it for her.

I breast fed my babies. Weaned them from the breast to bottle at 6 months. It only took a couple of weeks of holding the bottle for them and holding their little hands on the bottle with mine. After the couple of weeks they were reaching for the bottle and holding it on their own.

Can hold a rattle briefly by 2 months. It doesn't say bottle specifically. Does this help?
