While riding the public transit from my university I overheard a man and a woman talking about how a person was being mean to other blacks. The man asked the woman if she was racist, she said no, she's black. These are educated people too, attending a major university. Many people assume you can only be racist towards blacks, not whites.

Second part of question: How come it's not politically correct to call white people European American? I know more about my specific European descent than a black person knows about their African descent. I will be offended if someone doesn't call me German/English American in the future.

Errr....good question. I'm African American and believe that there are many African Americans that are racist not only towards Caucasian or European-Americans, but against other African Americans as well. But that is not to say that ALL African Americans are racist. The history of struggle between African Americans and Caucasians in the U.S. give rise to common conflict between these two ethnicities (this is evident through organizations in existance such as the KKK, New Black Panther Group, and so forth). And although there are laws and regulations in place to attempt to ensure that no one is descriminated against on the basis to race, lets' face it, it still happens.

To the second part of your question: I believe that you should be able to identify as whatever you would like. Although, I don't think you should be instantly offended if people do not call you German/English-American as it is not a common practice. I don't think I could identify a German/English-American by looking at them and certainly would not intend to be offensive by my omission. Try educating those that you speak with regarding this, and explain why you would like to be identified as such. They should respect your views on the subject.

I do not suppose that there's a change among white racism and black racism on a private degree. If you're within the road calling anyone racial slurs it does no longer subject what colour you're. No one colour makes it extra terrible. I suppose that a few racist men and women in each organizations are daring adequate to be up entrance approximately it and a few are sneaky adequate to be covert approximately it. I do suppose that there's a principal change among white institutionalized racism and black institutionalized racism considering that white men and women run this nation. I'm certain that there are a few occasions in which black owned associations discriminated in opposition to white men and women however truthfully what number of white men and women move to black possess associations besides? We are nonetheless very segregated. Usually the instance I get for a enterprise that's black owned and discriminatory is BET and any individual with part a mind is aware of that BET is owned by way of VIACOM that is owned by way of white guys.

Because of the way Blacks were treated mainly from the slavery era to the Civil Rights movements they feel that they own the idea that they are being discrimated against by everyone else (even if they aren't). That would make everyone who is not Black a racist (especially if they are white).

The idea being if you are always (or were) being discriminated against you can never be considered a racist if you do the discriminating.

The only thing you need to be racist is to have a race and be ignorant, prejudiced and inhumane enough to act on it.

Black people who say black people cannot be racist are full of bull and are suffering from " I am forever a victim" syndrome. Nuff said!
