Lupron... good luck!
Essentially, it induces a menopause-like state in which you won't menstruate. In as much as the endometrial cells are outside your uterus & contributing to pain, Lupron should help stop that (provided that endometriosis is the reason it's being prescribed for you). Major drawbacks include all those menopause symptoms - hotflashes and such. Also, it's associated in decreased bone density (a problem for some women).
It's also prescribed to delay pubertal development (eg, as part of a treatment regimen for growth problems).

The effects (good or bad) are going to differ depending on the purpose for which the medication is prescribed, the amount given, the frequency of administration, and you -- every body reacts a bit differently to the same medication.

I'm not certain of ways to cut the cost of injections other than "shopping around." Or, if your income is very low, checking out the company who manufactures the injection. Many pharmaceutical companies have programs in which people with low-incomes can get medication at reduced prices (or free).

I was injected Lupron for endometriosis. It was an injection whose effect lasted for a month. After I had the injection, I had to stop working for a month because Lupron turned my life upside down. I had nonstop migraines, constant laughing/crying spells, mania/depression episodes-- it's all on the side effects warning. On top of this, Lupron really messed up my system, hormonally. We suspended the Lupron treatment and had to wait until the medicine wore down.

Another OBGyn put me continously on the pill for several months. This took away my periods without the terrible side effects of Lupron.
