i am 15 weeks pregnant, and we have been talking about baby names, but we cant agree on them atall, he likes the more common names where as i like "different" names.
Also his dad was called Dean, and died around 2 years ago. and he really wants to call it Dean if we find out its a boy. but i really dont like the name. and i feel dreadful about it, bacause it was his dad. so i have tried to suggest it as a middle name, but i feel he really wants it to be the first? i have agreed that it can have his last name. how do i make the name grow on me? can i do this?

you have to compromise hon. it can be frustrating when you both have your heart on one name...
you don't HAVE to settle. this is your baby too. tell him how you feel about it, and tell him that you don't feel like your getting to be involved in picking a name that you like...it's not a contest w/a winner and a loser.
i can understand him wanting to honor his father..but there is NOTHING wrong with using it as a middle name! in fact if i am carrying a boy his middle name w/be after my father. i let my husband pick the first name because i wanted to use my father's name. and i love the name he picked out.
it takes time...and your only 15 weeks..there is plenty of time for your bf to mull over YOUR feelings.

Just because you name the baby DEAN as his first name does not mean that is what you have to call him. You could agree to name him (if its a boy) Dean _____ and call him either the middle name (which would be YOUR choice in the compromise) or something different all together. You could even use initials. Don't start off your child's life with an argument with his dad over something so trivial...it can all be worked out :) ~*~

How about you call it something close to Dean as a first name. I mean you could call the baby something like Dan if it is a boy and then have Dean as a middle name. If it is a girl, I think that Dana is pretty and it is close to Dean. If you don't want it to be the first name then you have to tell him. What if you said that it would be disrespectful to your father as it is like having a favourite by naming your child after just one of them? If you don't like Dean as a first name then suggesting it as a middle name seems really understanding and a good compromise. You shouldn't feel upset about not liking the name. Just because you don't like the name doesn't mean anything to do with his person inside.
I really hope that this helps and enjoy your new baby! xxx

Dean is my middle name and I am a girl LOL. Just think about how much you love your baby's daddy and you'll survive. Or just come up with a nick name so you don't have to call him Dean. I never liked that name either. But since my best friend found out I had a middle name and what it was him and everyone else I hang around started calling me Dean and told me They wouldn't stop till I got used to it. I agree with you I hate it LOL

My Favorite thing! lol. im 17 but i have a fiance and we talk about baby names all the time just for the fun of it. ok how you suggested it as a middle name that GREAT! dont feel dreadful. a baby is what the partner and you need to agree on equally. so here are some suggestions.
find a first name that he likes with Dean as the middle.
my fiance and i are goin to name our lil boy ( if we have one ) Noah leory lowry. and leory had been in his family for a long time. he wanted it to be the first name, but i wasent so ok with it. so i suggested it as middle. he didnt like it at frist but when i found the name noah he loved it. see what i mean.
so here are a few names just in case you wanna try it.
Noah Dean ( boy )
Emma Kate ( girl )
those are our names we have picked out. and your welcome to use then too if you like them.
other names,
( Boys )
Noah
Forrest'
Damen
Joseph
( Girls )
Emma Kate
kathleen
kaylan
Krista
i hope some of this was useful!!! and i hope you baby is very beautiful

u have to tell ur partner that u really dont feel u should name the baby dean, it has to be a joint decision. u both need to like the name, as u both had equal parts in making the baby!
u still have a while to go anyway, so dont worry yourself, just keep thinking of names that you do like and maybe he will hear one that he also likes, and keep the option of dean being a middle name.
i just had a boy 9weeks ago and i named him Rylie Amos
my daughters name is Faith - just some ideas.

i am sorry to say but the name will not grow on you. when i was pregnant with my second me and my husdand agreed that if it was a boy he got to pick the name (including the middle name) and if it was a girl i got to pick it. i did however make it very clear that i did not like the common names and it had to be something that not very mean people have heard of. he ended up picking caleb saul and i loved it. i think that it is a nice thing that he wants to do name it after his dad and i do understand but try and make him have it as a middle name if you can. whatever you do do fight about it. good luck i hope you get what you want.

You're having the baby so at the very least you should get to choose the name. Dean is fine as a middle name and I think that's generous. First names for boys that I like are very traditional - Adam, Joseph etc but if I ever have a girl I want to call her Eve. It sounds so tranquil...
