I just inserted my first Nuvaring. The picture shows that it should stay flat while inside of you. Well, when I feel it with my finger, it feels wide open and circular like it is when you take it out of the package. I can't feel it and it doesn't hurt or anything, but I want to make sure it's in right. Any comments or suggestions?

One more thing...it said to insert on day 1-5 of your period the first time. Is it still ok to wear a tampon while the Nuvaring is inserted?

It does stay flat, and it will feel like it is wide open and still circular cause it is...it is flat against your cervix (I think that's where it lays) and it is open and circular against it. You can still wear a tampon with it in and have sex and all that with no problems, you just have to watch because sometimes the ring will come out when you pull out the tampon, or it can come out after sex (personally, I had it come out once on the actual head of my fiance's penis, I think probably sex positions may have something to do with it too, depending on which position the ring gets put in while you are having sex, so...) as long as it's not causing you any pain and you aren't feeling it then I would say you have it in there correctly and you don't have anything to worry about. I have been using it for 9 months now, and mine still feels like it is in there just like it came out of the package. After the first two months, I also stopped having a period, which I find a plus because I had just come off the Depo shot and had enjoyed not having one. Anyway, it sounds like everything is going ok with yours, but if you are too worried, call your doctor and voice your concerns just to let him/her know, and let them reassure you. Good luck =)

wide open is ok. it actually doesn't matter how it's positioned just as long as it's not too near your vaginal opening (it could fall out). mine sits up near my cervix, and is fairly open as well. And for your second questions, yep, you can absolutely wear tampons with Nuvaring in. I do, and it says so in your pamphlet somewhere. Just be careful that when you remove the tampon, the ring doesnt come out too. if it does it's not a big deal, just rinse it off and reinsert, but be sure to check the toilet before you flush. lol thats my biggest fear about the ring so i'm always extra careful :) Good luck and enjoy!
