If it was really a choice, if I really could only have one, for me it'd be best friendship. Love without the friendship quality is empty.

Neither should be more important then the other. Your spouse SHOULD BE both your best friend and the love of your life. That is the only way a marriage is good.

Good luck and have a great day.

Being in love with your best friend is what marriage is all about.

Best friends first. To be best friends with someone, you have to trust them implicitly, confide in that person, and enjoy the time with that person. My husband is my BEST friend...he advises me on everything, we go everywhere together, we only hang out with each other. We dont need any outside friends because we already have everything we need.

And having a best friend for a spouse means you actually LIKE the other person. And if you LIKE your spouse, you are more likely to spend time with your spouse. Spending more time with your spouse, liking your spouse, and having your spouse be your best friend are the keys to long and happy marriage. Being in love and being best friends shouldnt be mutually exclusive. Having both is important!

In Love most definitely. I “was” married for 25½ yrs to one woman. We fell in love during our college days. We married and after about 10 yrs of marriage became more “best friends” instead of lovers. Today we still talk and consider ourselves best friends but the lover part of our relationship died years ago. Do I still love her? Yes but only as a friend. So as far as marriage is concerned I’d say “Stay in Love”, friends you can find outside of your relationship.

I say being friends. THe "feeling of being in love" comes and goes based on emotions; at least with alot of people. When there is a true friendship to fall back on, the conflict resolution comes along much easier.

In a perfect world, both is the best way.

Actually, neither.

The most important thing is being emotionally mature enough to work out problems, because they certainly will arise. Anyone can be in love or be friends. What matters is whether you can work through the rough times.

Best friends is more valuable, long lasting and goes deeper than the feeling of being in love which can be more short lived.

Best friends. This "love" thing has gotten way out of hand due to Hollywood and what it's telling us "love" is. Nobody knows what it is any more, they think it's a rush of feeling that has you in the clouds forever. Best friends last forever. Go with that one.
