I like the English opening as White. c4. As Black, obviously it depends on White's move, but I prefer a positional game as opposed to a tactical game.

I like to start out my game with 1.e4 The King's Pawn Opening. The King's Pawn opening move is both popular and logical. It controls the center, opens lines for both the Queen and the Bishop, and usually leads to an open game in which tactics, rather than slow maneuvering, predominates.

I always start with the my left Knight, it keeps my helpful pawns safe and comes in handy later on when I get stuck

For white I play the London system, Tromp., and sometimes Ruy Lopez. Then for black I use Caro-cann.

As white, I generally start with the classic 1. e4.
As black, of course, it depends on what white does.
