Contact a lawyer and fill him in. The age may be different in different states. Move on this now. This child needs you. You are his family.

I think you mean what age can they be emancipated. Depends on the state. Almost all, if the teen is married and so then it would be the marriage age. Sometimes juvenile courts or social services will establish a teen in an apartment or in a school and have a committee of social workers who supervise the emancipation. In custody disputes, most states will allow a kid to pick the parent at the age of 14 or even less in the judgement of the court. It varies a lot by jurisdiction. You can still enlist in the military at 17 with someone guardians consent but without a high school diploma or GED they will not take you so that makes the age a little higher unless the child is graduating early.

That is a highly individual thing. Some children are ready to live on their own by the age of 13, shocking to us as that may sound. Some children cannot fend for themselves even at the age of 30.

For most reasonably competent adults not in school, I would begin charging rent at 18, and insist they be gone by 20. Part of loving your children is knowing when they need to stand on their own two feet, to spread their wings and fly.

Usually 18 if they can prove they are capable of taking care of themselves. If there is some form of mental consideration thenit can be longer.

probably around 16. At around that age they should know enough to make their won decisions as to where they want to live.
