As long as your mom is around, she'll have the custody of your 14 year old sister. But I presume by the time you get to be 21, your 14 year old sister would have grown to be 18 or close to that and at 18 as you know she'll be independent of her mother.

The only way you could get custody is if both of your parents gave up the parental rights and even then, you would have to show that you are financial able to support and take care of her. At the age of 14, she does have some say as to which parent she wants to live with. Your only other option is to talk to your mother and explain why she should stay with you and see if she will agree to let her stay.

It is worth a shot.....is your sister supposed to go stay with your dad.......and your mother won't be taking her....sounds like you are the best choice by far.....you will need legal advice and find out how to proceed.....at 14, at least here in the states, the child can choose which parent she will live with and that may include an adult sibling....good for you for stepping up....wish you well.

It is guardianship, and yes you can. We have custody of both my wife's half brothers. Visit with an attorney, it helps if both parents are consenting, and if you can provide for them and are stable, if it is the best environment for her, then you can get custody..........but you have to be financially stable and able to provide for her. It can be alot to take on. One of the difficulties you will have is that you will become the parent, you will have to make decisions, that she will not like, you won't be able to be her big brother/sister anymore, your role will have to change. You can't be a brother/sister and a parental figure at the same time...........it will be difficult for both of you to adapt to. You need to be fully aware of this before you take it on. the "wild 20's" are no longer a chance for you to be crazy, as you will have a great responsibility.

Yes you can but you need to prove to the court why you are a better choice than either of your parents. You will be asking for Gaurdianship. My wife and I are her little sisters gaurdians. I suggest you call a local free law clinic in your town and discuss it with a family lawyer. Good luck.

If you are 21, you might be able to. Call a lawyer. They would probably be able to give you enough free advice to let you know if you should try in the hopes of getting the case, most do.

well officailly yes you can because you are over 18 which makes you a adult and it will be pretty simple to do somthing like this because you are related to her and are a close sibling. all thier going to do is make sure you have a stable job so that you can provide for her and yourself and a safe home!

Yes as long as you can prove to the courts that your parents aren't capable of taking care of your sister and reasons why she should be placed in your care.
