Great question! Gotta go with James- he's a better guitarist and better vocalist, not to mention he's hilarious (watch A Year And A Half In The Life Of Metallica) Mustaine was an originator, but I'd rather have James leading my band.

I don't know your question but my answer is Dave Mustain. James Hetfield is a sell-out. Dave is a true heavy metal god while James sold out his fans when he and the rest of Metallica: cut their hair, had that dispute in the mid 90's with Napster and more recently thought it was cute when Avril Lavigne did a cover of one of their hits.

Mustaine - Metallica got too lame after the Black Album, and Hetfield was one of the biggest b##ches about downloading tunes for free from Napster! I'll take Mustaine any day!
