I worked at a Country Club for years...YES! tips are great! Try to do banquets exclusively if you can. A lot of $'s there. And not all rich people are great tippers...a good percentage of them are cheap, cheap, cheap!
The only downfall to working in a Country Club is it tends to be seasonal...*you might want to ask about that.

Tipping is based on the percentage of the sale, so the higher the sale, higher the tip; as long as you know what you're doing. If I have a table that drinks a few 200 dollar botles of wine, it's going to easily be 100- 200 as a tip.
However, fine dining is not Bennigan's, there is a certain amout of tact and education involved. I've worked at jobs where you were trained for 3 weeks and at the end they stick you in a small room with the chef and he verbally grills you about the menu for an hour or so. You can miss/get wrong 3 ingredients where you might have 70 in one dish. It's pressure.
Having worked at country clubs, i did think it sucked. The money was pooled by the house, the members were obnoxious self important plebes, and it was mind numbingly straight laced. Did enjoy sneaking into the pool at night with another waitress, (that's were the condom came from guysBTW).

The women don't tip very well - men can be generous (especially if you're cute!) or just as cheap as the women. Don't count on good tips from the lunch crowd, dinnertime may be a little better, but the private parties will be small tippers too. Plus, the country club crowd is snobby and quite rude to "the help."
Why not take the job, and work there for awhile for experience and then you'll have it on your resume. Then try to get a job in an expensive restaurant, where the tips are always better.
Good luck.

Tippers vary, and not just by income of the tipper. I've been stiffed by plenty of well to do diners. How do you think they got rich? By being cheap. (haha)
If you are a good server, for the most part you can expect to average about 10% of each table's bill. The 10% average comes in because you will have decent tippers that tip 15 - 20%, and you will have the bad tippers. So, until you are there for a while and get a feel for the regulars and start to see a average for yourself, I would suggest going with 10%.

Ask them how they handle tips. I worked at a country club and was friends with a waitress. No money exchanged hands between the customer and the waitress. When she put the order into the POS, a 20% gratuity was automatically tacked on and then taken out of the member's account. She got her cash at the end of the day, and the tip was tracked for tax purposes by the POS. She really loved her job though!

I've been there, none are big tippers, at least in my experience, don't get me wrong I have had some ppl tip me $20 but not when i was in the country club. nope i got numbers, from men who thought for some reason i maybe intersted in them. the biggest one was five dlls. But again it depends on how well ur service is i guess.

Tips are highly dependent on the level of service you give.
If I get exceptionally good service I tip as high as 50% of the bill.
Exceptionally poor service gets 2 cents in a water glass which I invert on the table-top.
It used to be the norm for high-end restaurants to CHARGE the waiters/waitresses for them to be allowed to wait on tables and collect tips. Tips CAN be good enough to where the waiter/waitress takes home more than the restaurant owner.
Your success as a waitress is up to you, and no one else. A country club can be a goldmine for you.
You want to get good tips? The customer is ALWAYS right. even when you know the customer is wrong... you act like their presence and their happiness is the source of sunlight.

I got a similar offer from one of the work&travel agencies in Europe and they claim that you can make a very good amount of money from the tips. In some clubs they say you can make up to 100 bucks every day. In my offer it was a golf club. Although i still did not reply to that offer i think it may worth trying.

You should do all right. It will depend on the service you provide but a lot of them will tip 20%. You may also get their kids eating at the club and they may not tip too much. I would say go for it. My next door neighbor's daughter did that for a number of years and now she is the club manager. So who knows.. Good luck
