Back in the fifties when a loaf a bread was 19c and a gallon of regular was 25c. Wages were lower ,but, so was everything else. It would take a strong man and a boy to get 25$ worth of groceries from the car to the house. Then , the economy boomed. After WWII all those returning GIs with there GI Bill of Rights, and all that it implied, ready to go to work, make babies and buy homes! As our economy became global soon more consumer goods were needed and then more consumers. No problem, we just imported them to. Guess what, they needed work and brought their babies and made more babies and they needed homes to! As many of the American middle class were fighting the doldrums of the forty hour week our newly imported work force thought that forty hours wasn't enough to make the money they wanted to purchase more of this amazing American Dream. Slowly the American Dream became the nightmare we see today. Pension ripoffs, corporate greed, massive sexism of our female children. The Land of the Free has become The the Land of the Mass Consumers. It's a fantastic roller coaster ride that doesn't stop unless you fall off. So hang on if you want a piece of the pie, and remember nobody is going to give it to you . Just hang on to your dignity kindness and patience for your fellow man because I don't think they can buy that. (?)

Yes! and those were the days that I think about more and more now that I am an old man. Dad worked, we had a modest house, Mom stayed at home and took care of all five of us, and maneged to cook, clean, walk us to school, shop, make a home for us all. I still can smell that aroma of fresh bread being baked in our oven. Mom was everything to all of us, Doctor, Lawyer and even Indian Chief, None of us had too much in a material way, and yet we had it all. We were always greeted with a hug and a kiss when we came home from school.I remember clearly that Mom had to go to the Hospital for some minor surgery, and none of us knew what to do when we came home to an empty House. It was a great time.

Yes there was,my step-dad went to work and my step-mom stayed home, with us kids. What happened? The first World War, a war where more than two countries were involved, when did this happen? 1914, that is when the systems of things began to break-down. That is the year that Jesus became installed as God's King, in His Kingdom and The war in Heaven happened and Satan was thrown out of heaven, down to the earth. And things have been going from bad to worse ever since.

Yes. Plus the paid for college and had plenty to eat. May not have been what they wanted but they had it.

Times change and no one made time to grow their own garden and learn to can cause it was easier to just buy it. Clothes were homemade, for some reason mothers forgot to teach their children to sew... That caused more demand for items and prices increased and then government decided they needed more taxes and one thing and another etc.

The million dollar question: Will you go to Heaven? Here's a quick test. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, or used God's name in vain? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you looked with lust? Will you be guilty on Judgment Day? If you have done those things God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart. The Bible warns that if you are guilty you will end up in Hell. That's not God's will. He sent His Son to suffer and die on the cross for you. Jesus took your punishment upon Himself -"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then He rose from the dead and defeated death. Please, repent (turn from sin) today and trust in Jesus, and God will grant you everlasting life. Then read your Bible daily and obey it.
