January 2007 was my first period in a year, Their was no cause as to why i wasn't getting my period i have had tests such as my pituitary gland, thyroid, prolactin levels, liver/kidney function, LH and FSH levels tested and everything was perfect....Mind you I am 20 years old. anyways my doctor gave me a progesterone challenge 10mg for 7 days to see if that would induce a period and it did so then she suggested i use a natural progesterone cream the last ten days of my cycle..Well in february i had spotting on the 3 and 4th then the spotting started again on the 9th and lasted til the 15th then i started my period on the 16th, I had only been using the cream for about 3-4 days when i started my period so i had to stop. This month i was suppose to start on the 14th but it never came( was even using the cream) and the past week i have had sore breasts mostly the nipples. I took a preg test this morning and it came out negative so what now?? hubby and i would like to conceive..

I would get another opinion from a different doctor. I hope you are seeing an OB/Gyn. If not, find a good one.

Some ways to find a good OB/Gyn are:

1. Ask your primary care doctor for a referral, if you trust him/her.
2, Ask friends who rave about their OB/Gyns
3. If there is a magazine or similar publication in your area that lists the best doctors in your area, look through that and see who they have
4. You are very young, but with sore breasts, perhaps you should have a mammography. Also, do you have any other breast changes, such as a discharge from your nipples, puckering of the skin, change in looks, etc. If so, check it out.
5. Do you exercise A LOT? If so, I've read that that can change your hormonal cycle and often prevent or screw up menstruation.
6. I wonder if you should also see an endocrinologist to check your levels of different things, like thyroid, etc. They are specialists for that kind of thing.

I know I added things about your breasts. I'm in my 50s, so I always think about them, especially since my Mom had breast cancer twice. But, women do get it early - not many, but just be aware of it. AND don't be scared!

I wish you the best. Sometimes stress does a number on someones body. So, make sure you take some time every day for yourself and also find a good meditation tape and do meditation twice daily.

Hope this helps you in some way...amelia

The cream you're using for inducing your periods will cause you to have irregular ones, and to have weird PMS symptoms that linger, like you're describing.

Are you thin? Have you tried just putting on 5-10 pounds of fluff? Benig under weight, even by a few pounds, can really cause your body to abort all chance of pregnancy, since it just doesnt believe you're able to survive growing a baby and nursing it.

I had to gain back 10 pounds to have a period when I was 18. I went 10 months without one, and I skipped three or four months from then until I got married at 20. I was just too skinny. 126 lbs at 5' 7" is my magic number, thats the happy balance. Although I was heavy with winter weight (around 133) both times that I got pregnant.
