I personally wouldn't ever buy one, I don't understand why someone would spend all that money for a fancy bowl. You could spend less and get an actual tank that not only would be better for your fish but would allow you to have more fish. The people who do buy them seem to like them though.

They're nice little tanks that get the job done for amateurs who just want a glorified fish bowl, but its shape is purely aesthetic and useless for actually keeping most fish. If you just want to keep a betta or a goldfish then it will do the job fine(use only the largest biorbs for a goldfish), but for tropical community tanks or most tropical fish a normal rectangular tank is what you want - the shape and size of them provide much more useful space for the livestock. The surface area of proper rectangular tanks means more space for more fish, more space for fish to move and live, more space for territories, and more area for oxygen exchange. Biorbs are most useless for territorial fish - anything kept in there must be peaceful or alone.

Also, it ends up more beneficial to purchase equipment by piece, choosing and customizing your own filter, heater, lighting, etc. Less hassle down the road this way should something go faulty.

Hi, I purchased a 4 gallon baby Biorb two months ago for my betta. It is truly a beautiful aquarium with a few live plants and coral for my betta to rest in. The water stays crystal clear and my betta spends a lot of time swimming around the outer edge of the globe. The ammonia level is down for a new tank because the filter is so good. I plan to change the filter soon, that is expensive, but I think it's worth it. I also purchased another 16 gallon Biorb for my goldfish last month, I liked the baby Biorb so much. I have lots of plants in that aquarium and have placed it in front of a large mirrored wall. Just beautiful. Yes I would recommend this tank. I bought mine at Petsmart because I thought the price was good and the online store offered free shipping. Look around because the online Casco manufacturer's price is high in my opinion.

I personally wouldn't have one. They are very expensive for the gallonage and the design is purely for looks and not for the health of the fish. I would strongly recommend you spend your money on a standard rectangular tank set up instead. In the long run both you and your fish will be much better off.

I have to agree with Nyna and G on this one. I would not recommend one. They are noted however for not restarting when there are power spikes and outages.

I had one in my outside pond (actually 3) After the first quit working, I took it back and they replaced it, again out it went and again.

Matter of opinion since there are many who swear by them. For dependability, I would choose something else.

I don't like these they are just like the horrible gold fish bowl of yesterday but much more modern
Why dont you buy a small aquarium its far nicer and much healthier for your fish
Go along to a large tropical fish stockist and you will be amazed at the nice aquariums there so please think again

A rectangular fish tank's better.
The fish have more room to swim and able to take in more air from the surface.
