Back in the 60s I think it was, a journalist went through some kind of process to have his skin darkened so he could write about the experience of being "black" in a white society. I never read the book, but remember hearing that it opened up a lot of blue and not-so-brown eyes to the frustrations and horrors of being African-American. This kind of thinking was instrumental in the social change that took some bold steps forward with the civil rights movement.

The book was titled "Black Like Me", and the author was John Howard Griffin. If you're really interested in this kind of transformation, I suggest you read the book or see the movie that was made, based on it.

Actually there is a skin cancer that causes you to change colors. A friend of mine has a niece that is half black but she is very, very light skinned almost white and all the sudden she started getting these big dark blotches on her face and they took her to a Dr and they told her about this cancer. Now it does NOT cause your whole body to just magically and evenly change to another color but it does cause parts to change darker/lighter. I know this sounds really weird but I swear its true. And BTW MJ did some weird cosmetic skin bleaching thing to become whiter.
