About a year ago we moved into a house with hardwood floors. They looked great. We have a large dog who loves to play by running up and down the hallways at full speed, and then he skids to a stop. We do keep his nails short, but they are still scratching up the hardwood. Every inch of the floor has little lines on it. Can this be easily buffed out or are they ruined after only 1 year?!? What can I do to make them less noticable. No expensive reflooring advice please... they're not that bad.

Yes. If they are not deep the scratches are probably only in the surface of the sealer that is on the floors. You can buff and reseal. We used a polyurethane coating that was "dog" resistant. Your floors do not need total replacement or sanding until the scratches have actually gone through the sealer and dug into the wood. Hardwood floors are hard to maintain with dogs and kids. You might want to keep an area rug on the larger surfaces.
