Well the earth isn't perfectly round. Try to imagine this: You pick a rock off the ground. It has different shapes on it, maybe some holes, pieces are broken off, but the general shape of it, is round. Now fill in the gaps of the rock with water. All around the rock, the holes and gaps are filled with water, The water being the same size height all around, thanks to gravity. What is the shape now? Perfectly round. That's earth. It was a huge jagged rock and gaps. As gravity held the water in place, it takes the shape of a circle. Makes sense? Hope so.

It was theorized that shaping the world like Stewie's head would bring an even climate throughout the planet, that is until the world scraped the moon, making the flag left by the lunar expedition to wave, causing the moon landing conspiracists to cry foul and....you get the idea.
