I like my partner to be my equal in their contribution to the relationship, both financially and emotionally. I would support my b/f if he lost his job but only if he was making every human effort to get another job. I lived with a man for a year who leached off me financially and believe me the resentment grows very quickly. I understand there are times when it may be necessary for one person to stay home (such as when children are young) but generally I feel that I would prefer if my partner was not 100% reliant on me to provide for them.

I would think self sufficient except in some areas and then a partner is a wonderful thing.

Of course self sufficient. There is nothing worse than be partnered up with a weakling who is just a big baby!

Self sufficient. It gives a person more of a sense of accomplishment and ensures that they will get by if you pass on.

I would want my husband and partner to be a little bit of both. THere has so be moderation in everything and too much either way is too much and i would not like it.
