My mom did this thing for Easter. She'd write little verses on strips of paper and put them in those plastic Easter eggs. I'd wake up Easter morning and there would be an egg by my bed. I'd follow the verse to figure out where the next egg was. After about 10 eggs leading me all through the house and backyard, garage, barn, I'd finally find a gift...like a board game. I think it's a cool tradition, so even though she's gone now, I did this with my husband and he had never heard of it!

We alwaqys go out for a picninc on Christmas day. It started because my dad was an organist and had to work in the morning and the late afternoon and they didn't have time to eat. they went for a picninc anc had dinner in the evening. It's stuck ever since. NOw me and my partner also go for a picnic but usually for Christmas breakfast. Oh and we always have pork pie for breakfast on Christmas day which I believe is a Melton Mowbray (Leicestershire - where the pies come from) tradition

Starting the Sunday after Halloween, we have Secret Santa Sunday brunch at a different family member's house and exchange gag gifts. We do this every week until Christmas day, when everyone gets a real gift from their Secret Santa.
