This is my 3rd baby in 3 years. It's been a very easy pregnancy up to now but yesterday i began to get cramps, i figured no big deal, i must have overdone it with chores. So i showered hoping to ease the tension and nothing. By 8:00 i was feeling incredibly nauseous and the cramps were in my back, stomach and hips and going down my legs just like it did during labor with my 2nd dd. I was restless in bed and stayed on my heating pad until 1.a.m when it got incredibly unbearable. I have a good tolerence for pain but this is awful. I was in agony and debating whether to go to the hospital, but my husband wasen't home from work yet. It's now 10.a.m and my phone has decided to quit working so i can't even call my doctor, there's no dial tone for some reason. But the pains are in my stomach, back and sides still and no amount of positioning or walking is helping ease the pains. Braxton hicks aren't meant to be this painful especially for this long - any ideas till i can call my doctor?

I'm hoping by now you are at the hospital or at least have called your dr. I think it's in your best interest to go to the hospital and be safe rather than sorry. I would have said to lay down and try to relax but it sounds like it is way past that point right now. I'm also pregnant with my 3rd baby and I have to drive 45 minutes to my dr. and the hospital where I'm delivering. My 2nd baby came so quickly that I barely made it to the hospital. my dr. told me to come to the hospital this time the second I feel anything. So even if they have to send you home at least you will feel better knowing that you got checked out. And maybe they can help you with pain medication. Good Luck and congrats!

I've been having painful braxton hicks since about 28 weeks, so it could just be braxton hicks (they get worse with each pregnancy I'm told). Can you get somewhere that does have a working phone? Call you doctor and if he wants you to go get checked at the hospital call your husband home. By the way a heating pads will make the braxton hicks worse, also you are not supposed to use heating pads while pregnant.

I could move to the clinic now. I recognize I'm no longer a midwife or not anything, however it sort of feels kinda dull she could let you know to simply wait till waters holiday! At 29 weeks! Seriously? it would be simply braxton hicks, but when it does move on for one more hour OR the rigors develop or turn out to be nearer in combination, move to the clinic instantly. A fake alarm is such a lot bigger than going into labour at 29 weeks.

Find a way to call your doctor. You need to be seen. I had 3 kids in 3 years and my youngest came 5 weeks early. Are you tightening or is it just painful?

Good luck and be safe.

If your phone isn't working, try going to a neighbors and calling your doctor or an ambulance.

Braxton hicks should not be agonizing.

Why are you messing around on the computer??? 29 weeks is too early to be going into labour. Get to the ER immediately!!!!!

um.....if you have a birthing ball or yoga ball sit on it and hold on to the back of a chair and sway back and forth and the should help to relieve back tension or if your more comfortable walking just walk around and pause when it hurts..............another thing that is quick and easy and really works is get down on your hands and knees and gently rock back and forth or side to side it will move the baby so he isn't putting a ton of pressure on your back .
if none of these seem to help i have more so just e-mail me at

I would go to the hospital they can check you out and give you something to stop labor if that is what it is.
