I am lesbian and femme. I am only attracted to other femmes. However, I'm not too into the lesbian community but a friend of mine is. When I've told her about not being attracted to butch women, she said I just haven't seen a young, attractive butch yet.
I really don't think I could be attracted to a butch for a number of reasons and that's just my preference. Don't hate them just don't date them I guess.
Why does she insist though?

Your preference is femmes, there's nothing wrong with that. Maybe one day you will meet a young attractive butch, as your friend says, but maybe not. I don't know why she would insist, it's your preference, only you know who you're attracted to. I wouldn't worry about it to much.

Her insistence is her thing, not yours. Go with what you like. There are no rules that I know of for what type of person you need to be attracted to!
I know a lot of older lesbians adhere to the butch/femme thing, but the younger crowd doesn't pay attention to it. I've seen butch/butch and femme/femme and all combinations of flavors.
Don't worry about what anyone else says, follow your heart...

Don't listen to her. If you aren't feeling anything for butches, then that's just who you are. You are no more "waiting for the right butch" than a gay man just "needs the right woman". It's a load of crock.
I understand where your friend is coming from, though. Butch lesbians get so much flack- in our society, they are consistently labelled as ugly or at least unattractive. There's the whole lesbian stereotype of butchness that is definitely not portrayed as an object of desire. And yet, as someone who adores butches myself and finds them quite sexy, I am always looking for pictures of gorgeous butches to show to people who don't think they like them- and surprising them by doing so. So I think your friend just feels the same- that you're operating off of stereotypes and would really like butches if you knew their beauty.
Unfortunately, that isn't true. If you don't have the desire, you never will, even when faced with the most handsome, charming butch in the world. Just keep trying to educate her, and if she doesn't listen, ignore that aspect of the conversation.

She's just trying to force her views on you. Maybe she wants you to expand your prefereences, for whatever reason. But, u know what you're attracted to & that's all that matters. I use to be like that. Only attracted to other femmes. But I DID meet a butch who competely swept me off of my feet & she's gorgeous....so i had to step out of my comfort zone and took a chance with her. We're working on 2 yrs :-)
