I was just wondering why people wear name brand clothing? To Fit in, look cool, stay or be fashionable. i mean honestly i am a victom of wearing name brand clothing and i wear it for the quality and also the designs of some name brands are unique like, bape, billionaire boys bluc, ed hardy, LRG, lacoste, abercrombie, A&E, exc. I mean I know that the only differnce between a lacoste polo and polo is the little aligotor but yet I still go out n spend 70 bucks on a shirt as to i could get one four 20 bucks maybe cheaper. what is your opinion on name brand cloths?

I DON'T. And I could "afford it" if I wanted to. Fashion victims fall for this. What a rip off. They should pay ME to advertise their crap. If this is what you think makes people worthwhile, you all deserve each other.

With REAL quality, one doesn't need to see a tacky logo all over it. You look at the fit, the fabric, the finishing details. Logo = wannabe cool.

Some people here are right. As for me, I don't buy expensive brand stuff, for number of reasons, first of all, have you seen the brand clothes? There are plenty of stuff, from brands, that look sooo ugly and have suuuch a cheap look that you wouldn't believe that this is branded. Second, when I see this stuff, I don't believe they worth that much money. And I would never buy this stuff for so much.
For me a simple looking polo shirt, is still just a polo shirt, even though it has a Lacoste logo embroidered on it. And I would never buy it for whatever the usual price of it is.
I of course would buy branded things if:
1)They would be my size and fit me.
2)They would be cute.
and
3)They would cost not too much.

The most of my branded clothes, I buy in a special overstock shops.

Not always, but sometimes, the quality is better. When I find a brand that ahs a better quality, than I will buy that brand, but I get real picky. For example, I bought some Adidas sandals once for $30. They lasted about 2.5 months of regular use, then they fell apart into pieces. Then, I went and bought the same type of sandals from wal-mart for $6.99, and they lasted me through 3 summers. With other clothing, my work shirts, I get some cheap and some not so cheap. The cheap ones, I have more of, but after a few years, I have to replace them (Color fades, fabric tears easily, etc.) but with the more expensive ones, they outlast them. It all depends, I am pretty cheap when it comes to clothing personally. Never buy brand name for the brand, only look a the quality. Sometimes quality is better, sometimes not.

The young crowd thinks that wearing name brand clothing will make them popular and more accepted amonst their peers. While I agree that you get what you pay for in terms of quality, what most people don't realize is that many brands get made at the same factories overseas. I work for a well known fashion label who also happens to license other well known labels, and I can tell you for a fact that the $300 dress shirt at Neiman Marcus is practically same as the $30 dress shirt at Kohls. For example, Lacoste and Izod are the same polo shirts and used to be one and the same before Izod broke off into their own company. I order dress shirts for a well known high end department store, and I also order the same (same meaning same fabric, trim, cut and coming from the same overseas factory) shirts under a different label for TJ Maxx.

Me personally, I shop wherever, whether its Neiman Marcus or Mandees. A true 'fashionista' knows where to shop regardless of price or brand. My thing is shoes...whether payless or manolo, I must have, and NO ONE has ever said they don't like me shoes. As a matter of fact, the pair of shoes I have the gets the most compliments are a pair of jeweled flats I bought at an Indian market for about $5.

I dont think its the clothing that you wear that makes you who you are, I think its your personality and how you treat others. Just because you have a A&E shirt doesnt make you any better/prettier than anyone else.

You can go to Wal*Mart and buy the same clothes for like a 5th of the price from Ambercrombie or whatever. So to me Brand Name clothes are pointless and just a way to make people spend way more money than necessary. Then some people dont have to extra cash to spend on it but they do anyways because they think they "need" it which then leads them to being in more debt.

Those are pretty much a summary on my feelings of designer clothes.

I think its the quality of the brand. I know that an AE t-shirt will last for years, and that Gap pants will also. You could spend 5 bucks on a shirt and it will shrink after a few washes and fade or maybe even fray, and then you have to replace it with another 5 dollar shirt every year, OR you could spend 30 on a brand name shirt and keep it forever.

Most name brand clothing is better made than cheap stuff. Ive had cheap shirts and name brand ones. the name brand ones last longer fit better and endure the drycleaners much longer. Just like anything you get what you pay for.

i can see where you would get hooked on that and really, if you look hard enough you can find MUCH cheaper 'mock' brand clothing.
i cant afford 70 bucks for a t shirt but there are certain things that are appropriate for name brand clothing, it kinda depends on your style

My opininion is that designer brands aren't necessary. I mean come on. Lets take .... Target for example. They have AWESOME clothes for cheaper. Why spend all your money on clothes when you could be donating it to various causes like: Peace Corps, Humane Society, St. Judes, local organizations like your homeless shelter, etc. Thats what I do!
