Does anyone know where I can find a drain protector that will fit over a lift and turn bathtub drain?
I've seen a lot of different guards, but they are all too shallow to fit my drain.
Is there any solution short of replacing the fixture?
I would like to prevent the backups/clogs which I have to treat frequently.
Thanks

unscrew the lift and turn and take it off. Screw it back in when you need to take a bath. the soap dish or a corner of the tub is a good place to keep it.

If you have problems with clogs, try FlowEasy drain opener I get it at Lowe's about $8 a quart. It will eat anything organic, especially hair =) just follow the directions carefully, this is strong stuff.

Just do regular maintenance, like pour drain clean down the drain on a regular basis. I don't think you will find what you really want. I have seen raised strainers for filtering the water into the drain, but you would not be able to lift your with one of those.

I picked up one of those inverted metal/mesh sink strainers from the hardware store, and i flip it over and use it over my bathtub drain, especially when I'm washing my hair. Since the drain is so thick and sticks up, the strainer stays on while the water is running. It's cheap enough to replace one it starts getting grimey, and the large ones fit perfectly over the turn and pop-up drain for the bathtub.
