For the same reasons military women cheat and spouses who remain home while the service member serves on deployment.
They are selfish.
This is not a gender issue.
This is not a career issue.
It's an issue of character.

Red are you married to one,or dating one?? Good question though,but I will put my penny to why?like some says that not all military men cheat, enlisted or officers,(I married to an officer), If they're in the ship that travel once a year,they will reach diff, homeport and that's when all the reality will come out, some will think that my wife will not know,cause its a diff. country. Some will say that they just want to see how they are diff. from Caucasian women back in the US. Some will not care because they're only thinking about their needs as a man and it doesn't matter if they hurt their love ones.
This conclusion goes to all branch of the military, so in scale of 1-10, 8% will cheat, and the 2% are the good ones. Who ever read this and I offend them, not for you intentionally,but Truth always hurt,..isn't it??

I've known quite a few military men, and not one of them has ever cheated. Now, I've known some that have been cheated ON.

Ask yourself, if you were on a ship for six months when you first got to land and you saw someone of the opposite sex, or same sex, wouldn't you be looking at this person like a pot of gold. It's like meat to a non-vegetarian. My God-father was in the Navy and he never admitted whether or not he took the temptation but there is much temptation.
Even if you are a civlian and you have not had any affection for a long time. If someone said hi, sweetly to you or even breathed on you, you just might get turned on!
But cheaters come in all different sexes, occupations, even inmates cheat when they are in there and when they come out.

Because in the Military, everything goes with the rules and regulation.. law etc..Once they out of the military, they lose control as their rebellious evil shows their true color. the only thing they do in their life is cheating on their spouse /partners and military cannot punish them.

If we are sterotyping them then what about the wives? Maybe cause they are lonely and there is someone at the next port that will satisfy there urges? Not that I am condoming this or anything.

For the same reasons civilian men do with one exception. They can add personal global presence as a factor...and that is another lousy excuse.

I don't know maybe they think that just because their in the military they decide they have all the power in the relationship and can do whatever they want no matter who it will hurt.
