What do you consider the turning point to where hip hop started to get real lame?

I blame it on the rise of No Limit Records - them Cash Money, along with all the other garbage these labels dumped on us. But if you could pinpoint one song that turned the corner for hip hop from cool to lame, what would it be, and why?

I SAY WHEN PEOPLE FROM THE SOUTH STARTED PUTTING OUT ALBUMS AND GIVING THEM RECORD DEALS. AND COMING OUT WITH SONGS ABOUT DANCING. I ADMIT THE DEM FRANCIES BOYS SONG WAS GOOD. BUT THEN EVERYBODY ELSE CAME OUT WITH THE SAME SOUNDING THING. SO I SAY THE SOUTH MESS HIP HOP UP.

mainstream rap probobly died in around 2004 when pun died, he was the last emcee to actually have something called "skill" on a mic, now a days bob dont even know if any of todays mainstream rapper even know what skill on a mic looks like anymore.
Things turned for the worst when mobb deep changed their style in 2002.

but bob is pretty sure mainstream hip hop died in 2004 from a heart attack.

I think mid to late 90's. I'm not a big hip hop fan, but I found Jurassic 5 and I think they're pretty cool. Not so much about hoes and all that. It makes me feel good. :) (and me liking them is big.. I'm a metalhead!!!)

As soon as 50 cent hit the scene and turned everything into crap!

the word "crunk", "thug", "bling" and cheesy videos that all look the same with girls, money, hummers, and BIG SHAKY ASSES!

Gross..........oh, and those stupid "Grills", jewellery on your teeth?? Really?? talk about bad breath build up!
