concentrate on the good in your life. ie: your alive, you have a roof over your head, family that loves you etc.. depression can be controlled if it gets bad enough. don't be afraid to talk to your doctor. your life is worth living. they can help. are you young and still in school? how are your grades? if school is a struggle for you, your attempt at making the grades could be your problem. my neice who was struggleing in school was severly depressed without knowing why. she tried her best in school but was still failing. after doing some tests they discovered her to be academically challenged. although she is smart the overload was to much and she was getting depressed because of it. they altered her school schedule to include only the core classes and that gave her more time to concentrate on the classes she really needs. her spirits lifted with the improvement and the temporary meds they put her on has turned her into a bright beautiful smiling teen again. help is there please don't be afraid to ask for it. your question here shows you are ready. good luck god bless

First of all you have to figure what or how you got this way. Think of the last time you really felt good about yourself. What were you doing? Were you alone, with your friends, or at home. Were you working on a hobby you liked?

If you feel like nothing is going for you, perhaps it's because you are not doing anything.... accomplishments don't just appear out of thin air, you have to get the wheels rolling. Start with small steps and work yourself up. Make a game plan of what you want to accomplish. For example:
If you want a great paying job, make out a game plan like this: Find a job, any job, and do the very best you can, no matter how mediocre, focus on how you can get more responsibility/knowledge (not more money).
When the time is right (and you will know it) look for promotion opportunities, in that job or somewhere else. What matters is that you make progress.
As long as you are making progress you will feel good about yourself. Be careful that you don't get into the "I'm not going anywhere attitude", that's depressing too. Just know where you are and where you want to get, and by all means... Never give up on yourself! Even if other people do! YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON YOU CAN AND SHOULD DEPEND ON. If you give up on yourself, why shouldn't other people do the same? So never give up on yourself...

Exercise! It gets your endophins pumping (which makes you happy) and also you'll feel better about your body. Also eat healthy. After all you are what you eat.

While exercising put in your peppiest CD. Think of a song that always cheers you up and makes you hyper. Have that playing while you're exercising. Work out for about an hour, or have a movie playing to make time go faster. It helps a lot.

Or get a bonsai plant. It is SO relaxing and stimulating to watch this beautiful thing grow that you pamper and treat. They do need a lot of treatment.

If it's a serious depression problem and talking to friends and family isn't helping do what I did and talk to your doctor. Lexapro is GREAT. It's an anti-deppressant that works within 4 days and has very very little side effects.

Keep your chin up! All will be well for you!

The ultimate drug is exercise. You need to get out there and either run, hike, bike, swim, or whatever is going to make you sweat while doing something active. You also have to do this on a regular basis. Throughout my life I have found that when I feel down and out exercise on a regular basis has improved my self image, my energy, and outlook on life. Running is the best recommendation, and do this without music or headphones. The agony of running for a good distance will put things in perspective and let your mind resolve a lot of issues while you're doing it. You don't need any "professional" help as of yet, but if this condition persists over a month then you might want to get checked out.

Start by being your own best friend. Take yourself out and do something nice for yourself. Often!

To feel better about yourself, remind yourself of your good qualities...your strengths, your accomplishments, your knowledge, your skills...

Get back in touch with what really matters to you, what you really want in life. Recreate those goals and make a plan. Then kick into action, begin with the first step.

Along the way, pay attention to and appreciate the really wonderful aspects of life...animals, friends, nature, art, learning...seek it and take joy in it.

These are the things we all do...it will work for you, too.

Why are you depressed? What is causing it? Look at all of your good qualities and not your bad. Sometimes a couple things can go wrong and ruin your attitude when really you have so many MORE than a couple things going good.

Talk to your friends. If they are true friends, they will help you with those qualities that are great in you.

Read self help books. Try to meditate or breath exercises under the guidance of some good teacher. Move with the less privileged and help them within your power. Always be cheerful. Nothing is bad as you feel. Things will definitely improve. Have not you seen that clouds hide the sun during cloudy days. You may repeat god's name when you are not occupied. nagarajan.

Think about how things could be worse and are worse for others. Make a list of all you have to be grateful for. This should help. Works for me when I am down and need a self kick in the pants. Feeling sorry for ones self is easy, but helping others is more rewarding to ones self. Smile and pass it on.
