Yes. But you can also stick your hand in a blender.

If you ignore a subpoena you are probably going to wind up with a warrant for your arrest.

There are many things that you 'can' do - if you are willing to accept the consequences.

Only if you want to get a warrant for your arrest and a jail sentence for contempt of court. Subpoenas are serious orders from the court to appear in court or turn over evidence. When we ignore the courts order, we are in contempt and judges take those matters very seriously. To avoid arrest and sentencing, I would pay attention and do as the subpoena says.

Yes, you can ignore a subpoena.

You can also ignore the smell of smoke in your house as you drift off to sleep. You don't have to pay attention to that strange new black spot that keeps growing on the back of your neck either.

In other words, feel free to ignore anyting you like, including subpoenas, just be willing to accept the consequences when they come back to bite you later on as surely they will.

Good Luck!

Yeah, your free to do whatever you want. Just like the judge or district attorney who issued the subpoena is free to file a warrant for your arrest. To take it a step further... you are free to evade the authorities if you'd like. :-)

Well, when Clinton was Impeached--his aides and staff testified voluntarily--realizing that fighting subpeonas was counter productive to the principles of Democracy. Expect GWB to take this CYA initiative to the Supreme Court where the issue will be overwhelmingly decided in favor of the rule of law.

Just think of what the name means. It's Latin and it means "under penalty/punishment". So yes, you can ignore it, but you have already been warned by the very word, that to ignore it carries penalties -- and nasty ones at that.
