It will heal naturally most likely, but when they put your finger back on they line up your bones, muscles, blood vessels, and nerves as best they can so when it heals that you have use of the finger, and that it will heal at all. If it's not lined up correctly it could die very quickly because it won't be getting blood flow. You probably should go to the doctor.

(Although I believe this question may be a joke, I will answer it anyway.)
Depending on the type of wound and the way in which it was created, it may be infected with any of a large range of possible pathogens, including bacteria, parasites, fungi, viruses, prions, and viroids.
It is common practice in a case of such a wound to visit the local A&E so that the wound can be cleaned and inspected for any possible signs of infection.
An infecting pathogen could interfere with the normal functioning of the host and can lead to chronic wounds, gangrene, loss of an infected limb, and even death.

Not the PINKY finger?
Do you know that its known as the "Boating" finger. It is essencial if you wanna have a good control over any nautical vehicle.
Get it out of the trash can and go to the hospital, they will never give you a boat operation license without one. I have an broken fingernail on my pinky finger and they put me on probation.

You sound like a "real man" so heat up a slab of iron until it is red hot and then "poke" it with your little finger stump to burn the wound closed. Toss down a couple antibiotics twice a day to fight possible infection and you'll be good to go.

I would go to the hospital just to make sure that there is no infection. Since you are not bothered by loosing it, just getting it checked out would prob be great help to you.

Couldn't hurt to go to the local doctors surgery really, just wash it every now and then to keep it clean, and keep it covered.
One curiosity, did you put the finger in the bin? it seems rather obsurd throwing a body part away somehow meh...

Don't worry if you have thrown the top part of your finger away it cant be sewn back.
Anyway if you went to the NHS you might have to sit there for a few months
How will you pick your nose now?

Youl'll be ok - give it a few days and a new one will start to grow. If it doesn't, go and see a doctor, they've always got lots of spare parts stashed around and perhaps they can find something that will suit you! lol

Yeah when I cut mine off , they threw it out also .You are obviously made of sterner stuff than I am because when the pain hit me my knees buckled and I couldn't stop shaking-but Demerol does work wonders.
Oh yeah, If you count your thumb as a finger
your pinkie is the third most important.
thumb , index, pinkie , ring, middle
