i don't know about WMP but there is a plugin to put songs to iPod from Winamp (to download go to www.winamp.com)

I use a program called Anapod and it allows lots of things that iTunes software does not allow. You can download it from www.redchairsoftware.com and it is really cheap but way good stuff.

You must use iTunes to sync with your iPod.
