Competition for the no. 1 spot is tight, but currently Hitler, Stalin, Kim (mentally) ILL, Castro among others are in the lead!
Hitler...do I need to say anything else about him?
Stalin... look at his numbers of victims some estimates go as high as 60 million, good job stalin!

and by far the most suscesfull and long lasting dictator Castro has been in power for over 48 years and going...very well done indeed!! ..lol!

but if what you mean is efficiency at implementing ideology and the dictator's vision of utopia then pol pot's regime is worthy of consideration.

Hitler was a very succesful dictator, although obviously a very evil one. (and some would argue he wasn't a dictator) Under him, Germany recovered from defeat in world war I to become one of the strongest nations in the world. However, I would vote for Julius Caesar.
