If you have some baking soda, just put 1/2 teaspoon to 1/2 glass (4fl.oz.) of water every 2 hours. Stir it until the soda dissolves. :)

This is a nutrition based question. Stay away from fatty foods and highly acidic foods. Drink lots of water, always. Over the counter products may help but are only temporary. Look at your diet and eliminate those foods that are listed in the fatty, high cholesterol, acidic, oily/greasy and high contents of sodium, lots of preservatives and stay the heck away from them. Eat more neutral types of food and definitely nothing spicy! Hope I've assisted you? Good luck!

Ask your doctor about taking 75-150 mgs of an OTC acid reducer every day for 2 weeks (whether or not you have heartburn). Depending on your health and other medicine you may be taking, this may help.

don't lay down after eating for at least a half hour . also try a spoon of vinegar , it sounds paradoxical but just try it . the theory being , that you don't have enough acid in stomach to liquefy food enough so it can empty out and move along , so it just sits there and backs up . pepcid and tums stop digestion so you can get a rebound effect and have to continuously buy their product .good marketing for them , maybe not so good for you .

my recommendation is a tablespoon of vinegar in a glass of water. most heartburn is caused by a LACK of acids in the stomach, not an excess.
