I have always wanted to travel and this year I will be 21 and I wanted to do something different for once. I want to move to London and work their. I can really gain a different experience by living and working and visiting London all together. I'm young and I’m ready to experience life at its fullest I’m an inspiring script writer all I know is what is here in California I’m not closed minded but very open to new things I just want something else then what I already have. I was thinking of just staying for the summer or 3 months but depending how everything goes I may stay longer. But I need to know what I need to do to make this happen. What do I need I know I need a work visa and entry clearance but how do I go about doing this. I am an American Citizen born and raised in California I’m 20 years old I’ll be 21 late next month. Anyone who can give me detail as to what I should do would help me so much.

If you are currently a student, you can apply for a 6-month work visa through BUNAC http://www.bunac.org/usa/workinbritain/

I did this at age 21 and it was a great experience. They have(had) an office in Islington which posted many many job opportunities for short term work, primarily in hospitality trades (like hotel work).

I ended up working in a pub in Hampstead which was a great experience. You get a wage plus room and board. I also got a built in social life with all the people I met while working there.

you can't be working in one city if you are living in another, so start by flying east. you'll be 21, have every advantage to start over again back in your home town if anything goes wrong abroad. It's lucky that you can afford to stay there during the summer, you can start looking for your first job there during this period ... If I have your age, I'll do the same ... but in another country. Good luck!
