Actually, I think Yahoo! Answers has many young people who are dreamers and status-seekers who don't understand just how much work is involved with making it to the top of their field. It's as though they have a commercial TV image of how to get things in life: the top schools are listed as the "best," just as there are the best sport shoes or cell phones, and you simply go out and say, "I'll have one of those, please, because that's what everyone else wants."

Pop culture has become so prevalent, and doing what's popular is so important to young people, that they don't seem to know how to find their own paths in life and seek out what is best for THEM, as opposed to seeking out only "brand names." How I wish I'd see more high school students saying, "I'm looking for a good college that offers x, y, and z," rather than "What is the best college for [fill in the blank]?" "Best" is a relative term when it comes to one's own life and goals.

Sigh.
