They should all be on a mulitvitamin that is well absorbed by the body and a good antioxidant supplement. Their immune system is obviously run down if you are getting colds that often. In addition to the supplements be sure to keep plenty of fruits in the house for them to snack on,. Also purchase zinc lozenges for the older kids and tell them to start sucking on them at the first sign of a cold. For now though get their immune system healthier.

It's possibly because you've got an extra child now who brings in and creates all manner of lovely bugs.

I have a 7 month old with an awful one at the moment!

If you're in the UK then the weather may be an issue as the winter on the whole was rather mild which possibly helps bugs survive.

I've heard about vitamin C and zinc being good although there's evidence for and against. On the safe side best to eat foods with them in anyway. Healthy fortified low sugar/salt cereals are a good start.

Hope they get better soon!

I believe it is due to the diets we as Americans eat. Our food is not as fresh or natural as it once was. Lots of preservatives, trans fats etc... This causes problems with our immune systems which do not work as well as they should or are as strong as they once were. I call it toxic tank syndrome or the trickle down affect so to speak. We are all assulted by free radicals everyday all day for our whole lives. What gets in our body via mouth(food) or product (through the skin) or breathed in(pollution from the air) our body tries to deal with it all. As time goes on and we get older the more toxic our tanks become because our bodies can only fight so much for us. This explains old age and diseases when we get older. This is only part of the reason - Read about Detoxification (which I feel we all should be doing on a regular basis). Also, its about Inflammation I have just been reading about in the book, 'Win the War Within' by Dr. Chilton. It makes alot of sense and I feel its worth the read, and it gives you a healthy diet to follow to repair your immune systems and prevent diseases that are caused by chronic inflammation within the body. Shaklee Vitamins aren't bad to take as well. I say Shaklee because they are well researched and not owned by the Pharmacudical companies like yucky over the counter brands, you don't want to know what they put in theirs as fillers! Anyway, I hope this helps, exercise and eat healthy - No fast Food!!!

It's because they don't play out in the dirt getting immune to bugs etc. Like we did in my day.

No. It's poor hygiene. Kids are kids. They touch EVERYTHING and never wash their hands right. They touch their nose, their eyes and their mouths and before you know it----another virus.
