the valve on my radiator was leaking,so i turned off water at the mains drained the radiator empty ,changed the valve to a knew one,turned water on at mains again and opened the valve for the water to be realeased into the radiator,now ive bleed the radiator to make sure theres no air in there,water has squirted out,tightend air valve,anything else i should have done coz knowing me i ve done something wrong somewhere

Sounds like job well done. If you drained the whole system, did you include any inhibitor such as Fernox or Sentinel when refilling?, this prevents internal corrosion and limescale damage. If it needs to be done just part drain the system and add it via the header tank or syphon it into a radiator if you have a sealed system.
