I have Windows XP on my laptop. I had it plugged in, (using the charger cord b/c waiting for new battery to come in). Any'who' my son wanted me to download his CD onto his MP3 player..(which was already plugged into my laptop)..then insert German Sheperd chasing cat. My cat jumped on the sofa, the dog's hind leg ripped out the cord....

long story short. When I plugged it back in I got an error message to restart computer in "safe mode" but then get another error message on a blue screen. States to hit F8 to restart computer but computer is frozen..If you want I can email you the exact error message..can someone please help me.

Thanks for the info Sanjay. I wanted to add that My laptop is connected to a wireless router as well. Should I take that out before running my Quick Restore cds?

Boot from windows cd that came with your computer and run a repair install. It can repair if there is any software related problem leaving all files and programs intact
