What does V.I.P. mean? I've heard that it means "Very Important Person" but I think that's a joke.

1.) A virtual IP address (VIP) is an IP address that is not connected to a specific computer or network interface card (NIC) on a computer. Incoming packets are sent to the VIP address, but all packets travel through real network interfaces.

VIPs are mostly used for connection redundancy; a VIP address may still be available if a computer or NIC fails because an alternative computer or NIC replies to connections.

2.) A Very Important Person, or VIP (pronounced vee-eye-pee) is a person who is accorded special privileges due to his or her status or importance.

Examples include celebrities, heads of state, high rollers, politicians, high-level corporate officers, wealthy individuals, or any other person who receives special treatment for some reason. In some cases, such as tickets to events , VIP may be used in a similar way to premium, and can be purchased by anyone.(e.g., [1]) The term was coined between 1940 and 1945[2], likely by the Royal Air Force.

VVIP (meaning Very Very Important Person) may indicate a level of status above VIP.

Yes it means "Very Important People". You do you think in clubs people get the VIP treatment? Because somehow they have climbed up the ladder of success to become an important person.
