Oil is used to make ton's of other products! Not just gasoline!

Fuel oils
Gasoline
Kerosene
Liquid petroleum gas (LPG)
Lubricating oils
Paraffin wax
Tar
(these are all made from crude oil)

They wouldn't go out of business...the lost revenue would be placed upon manufacturers of those other products.
So the other products as well would go up in price.
And the makers of those products would raise their prices and of course the consumer would end up with the bill....as usual.

The Oil Companies should concentrate in producing all other products except burning oils, gasoline etc... And between you and me, if I have to choose between the destruction of the planet or letting the Oil Companies go out of business, I'll obviously pick for the Oil Companies to go out of business, there's no question about it.
Why the Oil Companies don't concentrate in finding an alternative source of energy other than crude oil and remain in business?

To paraphrase Tommy Lee Jones from the movie "Men in Black," "human beings are intelligent, rational creatures. People are nuts." Oil companies will simply wait for alternative energies to develop into commercially viable (profitable) sources. Then they will take their mountains of cash and buy them. Many companies are already billing themselves as "energy companies" now. We will not pay any less at that point than we do now and Exxon, BP, Shell, etc. will have incomes from both sources.

Everything comes down to money!! The point behind all of this is getting away from the dependancy of other countrys and making our enviroment safer for the future. Until people in our country get away from all the money money money we will always have these big compnay issues. If you want your great grandchildren to be able to walk outside without masks on or not have to worry about constant threat of cancers and other things then we need to get away from things are harming our enviroment and causing global warming. Youmay not believe in it, but it is happening!! Not to us but it will tother future which should be what you care about!!

Who thinks that? Any widely used alternative energy would be owned by them anyway....Wouldn't be any cheaper either...

No, we will still need them but may not be a reliant on them...
