The only thing I can think of is "When I'm Gone" by Blood Sweat & Tears: "And when I die, and when I'm gone, there'll be one child born in this world to carry on (carry on)"

Blood, Sweat & Tears did do "And When I Die" (a song written and performed by Laura Nyro, she just didn't make it a hit).
