Let C, M, D denote Charlotte, Melissa, Don respectively.

According to the question,
C=2M and D=M+12 also C+M+D=92

therefore, by putting values of C and D we get,
2M+M+M+12=92
4M+12=92
4M=92-12
4M=80
M=80/4
M=20
therefore, D=M+12
D=32 =answer

Ok, the one factor we don't know here is Melissa's. So let x be number of hours Melissa works.
So, since Don works 12 hours more than Melissa, number of hours he works is : x+12
Charlotte works twice as many hours as Melissa, so number of hours Charlotte works is : 2x
Since the total number of hours they work is 92, add all their working hours.
x + (x+12) + 2x = 92
x + x+ 12 + 2x =92
4x + 12 =92
4x = 92-12
4x = 80
x = 80/4
x = 20
So, Melissa works 20 hours.
Don's hours = 20 +12 = 32
Answer: 32 hours.

(M) + (M+12) + (2M)=92

M=MELISSA
M+12=DON
2M=CHARLOTTE

COMBINE YOUR M'S
4M+12=92
4M-12=92-12
4M=80
4M/4=80/4
M=20

MELISSA WORKS 20 HOURS
DON WORKS 20+12 OR 32 HOURS
AND CHARLOTTE WORKS 2*20 HOURS OR 40 HOURS
20+32+40=92

using initials, both M & D work the same amount, if we subtract 12 from the total.
so 3 ppl work 80 hrs

Charlotte works twice as much, so count her as 2

M & D & C & C =80

Melissa works 20
Don works 20 + 12 or 32
Charlotte works 40

all slackers...I work around 55
