Doctors suggested me to use sunblock of SPF 40 or 50....but, i couldnt find any suitable brand of that amount....i bought one of SPF 60, will it serve the purpose? What do u think, SPF 60 is more active than 40 or 50? or, they all have distinct work?

Oh, it matters, all right. The higher the SPF, the better. I think 60 is fine. SPF protects you from the damaging effects the sun can have on your skin. You don't want melanoma, so stick with the highest SPF you can possibly find!

Example: It takes me 10 min. to burn under the sun (without spf) spf means (sun protection factor). It's a math problem!!!You multiply the minutes it takes you to get burned under the sun without protection times the spf you use. Your answer is the protection you are getting with each different spf.
spf 40= 10 min x spf 40= 400 Minutes or 6 hours and 40 minutes. After this time is up, you have to reaply your spf.

It basically means that it will protect you for 60 minutes in the sun, the SPF 40 will do so for 40 minutes and so on.

After SPF 15 the only difference in the numbers is the ability for them to stay on longer. For instance being waterproof for how long or sweat proof for how long. The SPF (sun protection factor) of them all actually stops at 15.
