I don't think it can reverse by itself after 8 years. I have known people who got pregnant within the first year after the vasectomy. The way to find out is to go to your doctor and have them test your sperm count.

Yes they can come untied. I worked in a Urology center before and have seen a few cases of this. You will have to have a sperm count ordered by your doctor.. any doctor can order this test. They will be able to tell you if any sperm are coming through.. if so.. you will have to have your vas re-done. You can locate the doctor that did the 1st one and they may give you a discount on the surgery. Nothing is 100%.. even when women get their tubes tied.. there is the small chance that they can correct themselves it is only about 4% but it can happen. Good luck and hope all is well.
* Didn't they recommend you to have a sperm count once a year.. I know our office would let the patients know this. Also you have to have 3 sperm count test after the procedure to make sure you are sterile. Good luck again.
**The surgical procedure is not always 100 percent effective in preventing pregnancy, because on rare occasions the cut ends of the cord may rejoin. This only occurs at a rate of approximately one to three in every 1000 vasectomies. Furthermore, sperm can survive from the point where the cords were cut for months. ANOTHER FORM OF CONTRACEPTIVE MUST THEREFORE BE USED UNTIL STERILITY IS ASSURED. To ensure sterility, a specimen of seminal fluid should be brought in for microscopic examination. The specimen must contain no sperm before unprotected intercourse is allowed. We recommend waiting at least 2 months and approximately 20 to 25 ejaculations prior to bringing your first sample to the lab. We require 2 negative samples for sperm, at least 2 weeks apart prior to clearing you for unprotected intercourse. Occasionally; it may take up to six months or longer to flush out all of the sperm.

You need to speak with a physician regarding this matter. Possibly have your semen tested for active sperm before you make any acusations. The only way I see it possible for you to be the father is if the physician did not properly perform the procedure, in which if I were you, would be contacting an attorney and sueing the doctor for the cost of raising a child for the next eighteen years.

Man all these people must be doctors. If you don't talk to your doctor and find out then that is just dumb. I do believe that it can grow back but only if you don't wait the recommended time after it is done. If you followed all of the rules then no it's not yours. but I am not a doctor and I don't give out medical advice. You have one of three choices go to your doctor and find out if it has grown back, wait till the baby is born spend all that time with your girlfriend just to have your heart broken in nine months when the baby is here and he/she looks nothing like you, or just say oh well who cares if its mine fine if not fine I will take care of it and be it's father no matter what. You decide and stick to your decision. This is a baby. He/She has no say in the matter someone logical needs to step up and be a freakin parent.

Depending on how the vasectomy was performed initially, it may be possible for some regeneration to take place in very rare cases. I would phone doc to see about the possibility of this and probably invest in a DNA test just to make sure baby is actually yours.

God..this is the most frightening post EVER!!!!! Time to go wack in a cup for the urologist. Go get your spermies checked! They should have explained this when you originally got your vasectomy, it can reverse itself. It's not very common but it IS possible.
Depending on the girl, she could also be pregnant by someone else....hmmmm trying to trap you with someone else's baby!
Call Jerry Springer!

It is possible - I worked at a doctor's surgery & I heard of this twice. Sometimes if the surgeon just cuts the tubes & lets them "dangle", they can then re-join. This was in the UK & I'm not sure whether the US are more stringent in these cases because of the suing culture.
Please don't jump to any conclusions. Give her the benefit of the doubt - deep down you should know. You can always get your sperm tested if you are still unsure. Good luck to you all.

I would find it very hard to believe after eight years the tubes
would reconnect. Normally there is so much scar tissue this is a problem even if you want a reversal. I would see your Dr for a referral to a urologist for a sperm count check.

Does your gf know that you had one?? ANYWAY
Once surgeons perform vasectomy, and several years later, the male could trigger pregnancy. In a word, experts have revealed that the surgical birth controls are not utterly guaranteed. I'd go to your dr - give a sample to have it checked. then armed with that information you will know if the baby could even have a chance to be yours..
Good Luck

Definately possible. The vas defrens can grow back, however unlikely it may be. Same can happen for women...fallopian tubes which were cut during tubal ligation can grow back. Have a friend who got pregnant 5 years after her surgery. Miracles do happen. I would have her take a test for sure. And if you are even the slightest bit unsure...there's always DNA testing :)
