Are you using a good sharp concrete bit?
Sometimes these post are reinforced with a fiberglass epoxy type resin(this only makes them harder).
I have had some experience with these on streetlight poles.
I used a 18v. battery hammer drill,it is just going to be slow going.
Make sure that you don`t run your drill as fast as it will go,because it will just heat the bit up and take the temper right out of it.
If you find that you need new bits, you can try here: http://www.yourauctionbargains.com Just use the search bar and type in concrete drill bits.

Hope this helps,

You need something that will plug in perhaps. I have a dewalt hammer drill..never had this problem. Is the drill bit your using made for concrete?? If not..u need to get a concrete drill bit. A regular drill bit will not do the trick.

You should rent a electric hammer drill, the post is probably 3000-5000 psi cement which is very hard and dense. You will need a good carbide bit.

You need special concrete drilling bits. Check your local hardware store.
